U.S. Military Joint Exercises

Military cooperation during this period extended beyond individual exercises. Personnel were trained in the operation and maintenance of American-made equipment, while American military personnel became increasingly familiar with military organizations and the geographical conditions of the region. Joint field activities helped translate this institutional relationship into practical experience.

The exercises also demonstrated the changing character of the Imperial Army during the 1960s was moving from a largely traditional military structure toward a more modern force equipped with increasingly sophisticated Western weapons and communications systems. Training alongside American personnel was one component of this transformation.
