The Story of Master
She and Shajarian met in 1340 (Solar Hijri calendar) in the town of Quchan, where both were teachers at a primary school. Their formal engagement (aqd) was held on 21 Mehr 1340 and the wedding ceremony took place on 20 Mordad 1341. Before marriage, she had a keen interest in gol-sazi (flower crafting) as a form of artistic expression. After marriage, due to the responsibilities of family life, she said she had to reduce those artistic pursuits.
She once said that “the greatest art of a mother is the raising (or forming) of human beings.” She emphasizes that while the external, visible arts are important, the nurture, values, personality, and character formed in childhood are even more lasting. She has reflected on her children’s growth, especially Homayoun’s inclination towards music. According to her, Homayoun showed interest early (playing tonbak etc.), and his musical talents emerged in childhood. She saw those inclinations and supported them.
