A Pioneer of Live Music Scene
Fetneh, whose birth name is Mehri, began her singing career in the mid-1960s. She first performed at Asia Café, located on Pahlavi Street (now Valiasr Street), accompanied by an outstanding santur player named Cyrus Azmodeh. She later married a man named Farrokh and stepped away from her artistic career for a period. After the loss of her husband, she returned to singing at a restaurant called Nakisa, located next to Capri Cinema.
At that time, a distinguished ensemble known as the One Thousand and One Nights Orchestra was active under the direction of Yadollah Badr, a composer who also played the oud in the orchestra. Other notable members included Mostafa Moradbakhti, a prominent qanun player and composer, Reza Moradi, a skilled violinist, along with several other accomplished musicians.
