The Story of Master

Before marriage, Farkhondeh Golafshan was a school teacher (elementary level), working in the city of Quchan, in Khorasan Province. She and Mohammad-Reza Shajarian met in 1340 (Solar Hijri), while both were teachers in a primary/elementary school in Quchan. Farkhondeh Golafshan stayed out of the highly public artistic spotlight compared to her husband and children, though she did appear in public events, especially in connection to her son Homayoun and in moments of tributes or mourning after Shajarian’s passing.

Many media sources and public commentary have praised her loyalty and the dignified way she conducted herself even before and after her divorce. She has been affectionately referred to in some accounts as “loyal” toward her family and memory of her husband. In coverage of Shajarian’s funeral, her presence was noted emotionally, and many in the public saw her appearance as symbolic of devotion. Some news outlets contrasted her calm and dignified presence with more sensational media coverage.
