The Private Son of a Public Icon

For many fans, the story of Kambiz is deeply tied to Googoosh’s journey. When Googoosh stopped performing for more than two decades after the Revolution of 1979, she lived much of her personal life away from the public eye. This also meant that her son grew up largely outside the spotlight, even though he was always of interest to her admirers.

Even in her interviews, Googoosh has occasionally spoken about her love for her son, though she rarely made him the focus of her very public career. Reports suggest that Kambiz has spent much of his life abroad, particularly in the United States (Los Angeles), which is home to a large diaspora community.
