Remembering Jaklin Vigen

Jaklin Vigen was not only a songwriter but also a poet at heart. She often said that her songs were like “letters” — messages she sent to people she might never meet, but who would feel her emotions through melody and lyric. She drew inspiration from classical Persian poets like Hafez and Rumi, but translated those mystical and romantic ideas into contemporary pop music.

She wrote about the human condition — solitude, separation, the sweetness and fragility of love. Unlike many lyricists who focused solely on romance, Jaklin infused her work with depth and social awareness, speaking to themes of exile, displacement, and longing for homeland. Musically, she had a talent for writing melodies that were simple yet unforgettable, designed to highlight the singer’s voice and emotional range.
