Heir to a Statesman’s Legacy
Ahmad married Dr. Liusa Hamzavi (Dr. Lucy Pirnia), a pioneering physician who later became known as the Shah’s children’s physician and the last personal doctor of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Through this marriage, Ahmad’s life was closely tied to one of the most prominent women in medicine and to the inner circle of the Pahlavi court.
Although less politically active than his father or uncles, Ahmad maintained the family’s reputation for public service and cultural refinement. His life reflected the quieter branch of the Pirnia dynasty — not one of direct political involvement, but of support for education, culture, and professional achievement. Through his wife’s position as a physician to the royal family, Ahmad Abolghasem Pirnia found himself within the extended network of the Pahlavi household. This connection brought with it both prestige and peril, as the Revolution of 1979 reshaped the lives of all who were closely linked to the monarchy.
