Aref Arefkia, widely known by his stage name Aref, was one of the most influential figures in pop music. Born in Tehran in 1941, he rose to fame during the 1960s and became known for his powerful voice, emotional performances, and romantic songs. His music played a significant role in shaping modern Persian pop and earned him generations of devoted fans.
Aref began his professional music career in the early 1960s. His breakthrough song, “Daryacheye Noor” (Lake of Light), became an instant success and established him as one of leading pop singers. He introduced a fresh musical style by blending Western-inspired pop melodies with Persian poetry and romantic themes, helping to create a new era of contemporary music.
