Saeed Oveisi, Dies at 82 in Sweden

Saeed Oveisi, a actor and writer, has died at the age of 82 in Sweden. According to Theater, Oveisi was born in 1943 in Tehran. He began his artistic career with the “National Art Group” and later collaborated with the theater troupe that Peter Brook formed to stage a performance at the Shiraz Arts Festival. Oveisi later joined the “Workshop Theatre” led by Arby Ovanessian.

The artist, who had worked with figures such as Abbas Javanmard, Bijan Mofid, Davood Rashidi, Atila Pesyani, Siroos Gorjestani, Enayat Shafiei, Hadi Eslami, Iraj Noor, Esmail Khalaj, Shahro Khordmand, Mohammad-Ali Najafi, and Homayoun Shahnavaz, moved to Sweden in the late 1980s. Among the plays in which he performed were The Stranger, It’s Not a Serious Matter, The Dolls, The Cherry Orchard, Caligula, and others.
