White House hopeful Lindsey Graham

The non-fiction account covers the senator’s childhood in Central, South Carolina, as well, including colorful tales about his ‘rascally’ years. His family was poor, but ‘I never felt I was missing out on something because I didn’t live in a house like my friends did,’ he says, noting that his family lived in single room with two in the back of the restaurant until his sister was born, at which point they bought a trailer.

Had he grown up in the modern era, Graham acknowledges that child protection services may have taken him away from his parents for allowing him to run wild at the bar in his elementary years and work there as a teen. Graham’s father – known to his friends as Dude – ‘ran a friendly establishment, but …if you crossed a line, he made sure you knew it.’
