The Visionary Who Transformed Miniature Painting
After his early training in Isfahan, Farshchian traveled to Europe to refine his artistic skills. He studied fine arts in Italy, where he explored Renaissance painting, sculpture, and modern Western art movements. This exposure gave him a new perspective—allowing him to merge Persian miniature’s meticulous detail with modern concepts of movement, perspective, and abstraction.
When he returned to Iran, Farshchian began teaching and working at the National Institute of Fine Arts. It was here that he established himself as a reformer of miniature painting, challenging traditional boundaries and infusing the art form with a contemporary spirit.
