The Man Behind the Music
Marc Anthony is one of the most successful and influential Latin music artists in history. Renowned for his powerful vocals, emotional ballads, and groundbreaking contributions to salsa music, he has spent more than three decades shaping the landscape of Latin entertainment. As a singer, songwriter, actor, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, Anthony has built a legacy that transcends music and has earned him recognition around the world.
Born Marco Antonio Muñiz on September 16, 1968, in New York City, Anthony was raised in East Harlem by Puerto Rican parents. His father, Felipe Muñiz, worked as a musician and hospital cafeteria employee, while his mother, Guillermina Quiñones, was a homemaker. Growing up in a culturally rich environment, Anthony was exposed to a wide variety of musical styles, including salsa, bolero, rhythm and blues, and rock music. Inspired by artists such as Héctor Lavoe, Rubén Blades, and Juan Gabriel, he developed a passion for performing at an early age.
