The Man Behind Cabaret
Some of the allegations or claims about misconduct stem from later years, often when Ghorbani was involved in talent-scouting or music-management activities outside. These require caution in interpretation. Because much of the nightlife scene in Iran pre-1979 is less formally chronicled (and many businesses closed or changed after the revolution), reconstructing a full biography is challenging.
During the golden era of entertainment in the 1960s and early 1970s, few names stood out as strongly as Mahmoud Ghorbani. Known for his sharp business sense and passion for music, Ghorbani became one of the central figures in Tehran’s thriving nightlife scene. As the owner and promoter of the famous Cabaret Miami, he helped create a new cultural space where modern Iranian pop and cabaret-style performances could flourish.
