The History of Amjadieh Stadium

The construction of newer facilities eventually reduced the role of Amjadieh in major football competitions, but its historical value remained.
One of the reasons Amjadieh is still remembered is its connection with important moments in football. Matches played there helped create a strong football culture in Tehran and contributed to the popularity of the sport throughout the country. The stadium’s name change to Shiroudi also became part of its history. Today, both names are associated with the same historic sports venue. Older generations often continue to call it Amjadieh because of the stadium’s long history and the memories connected with that name.
