Kourosh Yaghmaei is one of the most influential and distinctive figures in the history of popular music. Born in 1946 in Damghan, Yaghmaei became known for combining traditional Persian musical sensibilities with the sounds of psychedelic rock, folk, and Western pop. His music developed a unique identity that continues to attract listeners and around the world.
Yaghmaei began playing music at a young age and eventually formed a band with his brothers. During the 1960s and 1970s, a new generation of musicians was experimenting with Western musical styles while incorporating Persian melodies and instruments. Yaghmaei quickly emerged as an important voice in this movement.
