Shaping Modern Political

Abtahi held several government positions after the Islamic Revolution and gradually became associated with reform movement. His political career reached national prominence during the presidency of Mohammad Khatami, whose administration emphasized political reform, civil society, cultural openness, and dialogue. From 2001 to 2004, Abtahi served as one of the Vice Presidents of and also headed the Office of the President.

In this role, he worked closely with President Khatami on administrative affairs and public policy while supporting efforts to modernize government institutions and encourage greater public participation in political life. Throughout his political career, Abtahi advocated for moderation, dialogue, and reform within the framework of the Islamic Republic.
