Saeed Oveisi, Dies at 82 in Sweden

Oveisi eventually joined the Workshop Theatre led by Arby Ovanessian, an influential institution that introduced new theatrical styles and avant-garde productions to Iranian audiences. During this period, he worked alongside many prominent figures in Iranian theater and cinema, including Abbas Javanmard, Bijan Mofid, Davood Rashidi, Atila Pesyani, and Siroos Gorjestani. These collaborations placed him in the center of a vibrant creative community that significantly influenced Iranian performing arts.

Throughout his theater career, Oveisi performed in a range of notable productions. His roles in plays such as The Stranger, It’s Not a Serious Matter, The Dolls, The Cherry Orchard, and Caligula demonstrated his versatility, moving between classical works, modern drama, and experimental theater. Colleagues often described him as a thoughtful actor who approached each role with careful study and emotional depth.
