Remembering Jaklin Vigen

Though she was best known as a songwriter and composer, Jaklin Vigen also stepped into the spotlight herself, performing songs that carried her unique signature. Jaklin’s role in pop music was transformative but often understated. While many singers rose to fame through her lyrics and melodies, she remained a quiet force — content to let her words take flight through others’ voices.

In this way, she contributed to shaping not just individual songs, but the entire emotional landscape of diaspora music. Jaklin moved to Los Angeles, which became the cultural hub for Persian music in exile. There, she continued to write, record, and collaborate, maintaining her presence in the artistic community. She battled illness in her later years, and despite her struggles, remained connected to her art and her community. On September 7, 2025, she passed away in Los Angeles at the age of 72.
