Global Journalism

Christiane Amanpour is one of the world’s most respected journalists and international correspondents. Known for her fearless reporting from war zones and conflict regions, she has spent decades covering major global events with depth, integrity, and compassion. Born in 1958 in London to a father and British mother, Amanpour grew up between cultures—an experience that later shaped her global outlook and journalistic voice. Christiane Amanpour was raised partly and partly in the United Kingdom before moving to the United States as a teenager.

Her multicultural background gave her early exposure to international politics and diplomacy. She studied journalism at the University of Rhode Island, where she developed her passion for news reporting and storytelling. After graduating, she began pursuing a career in broadcast journalism. Amanpour joined CNN in 1983 as an entry-level assistant. Through hard work and talent, she steadily rose through the ranks to become one of the network’s leading foreign correspondents.
