His image has appeared in protests, reformist campaigns, and even murals. While he died in 1967 under house arrest, his legacy only grew. In 1979, revolutionaries invoked his memory as they toppled the Shah, even though the revolution took a very different path.
In the decades since, Mossadegh has continued to represent an alternative vision of politics—one rooted in constitutionalism, independence, and popular sovereignty.
