Amanpour and her ex-husband US diplomat

Christiane Amanpour was born on January 12, 1958, in London, England. She spent part of her childhood in Tehran, Iran, before returning to England for her schooling. She later moved to the United States and graduated with a degree in journalism from the University of Rhode Island. She gained international recognition covering major wars and crises, including the 1990–91 Persian Gulf War, the Bosnia conflict, and other hotspots across the Middle East, Africa, and beyond.

Known for her direct interviewing style and presence in war zones and political hotspots, Amanpour has interviewed numerous world leaders and shaped global public understanding of international affairs. Her reporting has not only informed viewers worldwide but also highlighted humanitarian crises. Honorary degrees and induction into journalism halls of fame She was also made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) and is an honorary citizen of Sarajevo.
