A Life Composed in Harmony
He was seen as one of leading composers, bridging Eastern (Persian) musical heritage with Western classical forms. His works were celebrated not only but internationally, and he influenced many artists and composers. There was a “Resurrection Concert” (A Persian Night) in Vancouver in 2019, featuring many professional musicians performing his works among others. This type of tribute shows his stature in the cultural community.
Beyond his compositions, Pejman is remembered for his mentorship, his love for his homeland, and a generosity in spirit toward music and younger musicians. Even after relocating, he maintained a connection to culture in his music and continued to write film scores for cinema. From the Persian side, he drew on traditional modes (dastgah) and rhythmic cycles that are centuries old.
