Their union was relatively short-lived, and they eventually divorced. Ahmad Shamlu, the renowned contemporary poet, married Ashraf al-Muluk Islamiya in 1947, when he was in his early twenties. She was his first wife and the mother of his three children: Siavash, Siamak, and Saghi. Their marriage coincided with the early stages of Shamlu’s literary and political life, a period marked by personal struggles, imprisonment, and financial hardship.
