The Voice Behind the Golden Era

After the revolution, when the new regime imposed severe restrictions on music and artistic expression, Touraj Negahban — like many of his contemporaries — left. He eventually settled in Los Angeles, which became a hub for the diaspora.

Despite the distance from his homeland, his work remained rooted in culture and identity. In fact, exile seemed to deepen the melancholy and emotional power of his lyrics. Even in exile, his pen remained active, writing for the same artists he had always worked with, many of whom had also fled the country.
