The Voice Behind the Golden Era

Touraj Negahban was born in Tehran,  in 1930. From a young age, he showed an affinity for poetry and literature, immersing himself in the rich traditions of Persian verse, from Hafez and Saadi to the modern literary movement led by poets like Nima Youshij and Ahmad Shamlou.

But it was in songwriting that he found his unique voice — one that would resonate with millions across generations. By the 1960s and 1970s, popular music was entering a golden era, blending traditional melodies with Western instrumentation and sensibilities.
