The annual United Nations meeting in New York

This year’s Assembly includes high-level dialogues on rebuilding trust in international financial systems, bridging digital divides, and ensuring inclusive growth. The pandemic exposed global inequality, and many leaders are advocating for systemic change rather than temporary fixes.

While the world’s major powers often command attention — particularly the U.S., China, and Russia — the General Assembly has increasingly become a platform for emerging regional powers. Countries like Brazil, South Africa, Indonesia, Turkey, and Nigeria are asserting greater diplomatic influence, especially in coalitions such as BRICS, the G77, and the Non-Aligned Movement.
