The Story of HOMA’s Formation The history of Iran National Airlines, known as “HOMA,” dates back to Azar 1323 (December 1944), when Reza Afshar, the then-Minister of Roads, and Gholamhossein Ebtehaj, the then-head of National Bank, founded Iran’s first flag-carrier airline. Initially operating only on the Tehran-Mashhad route, the airline gradually expanded to cities like Isfahan, Shiraz, Bushehr, Abadan, and Ahvaz. Later, it extended its international routes to destinations such as Tel Aviv, Cairo, Baghdad, and Paris, facilitating passenger travel.
