Recently Declassified Secrets of USAF Stealth Aircraft
Nicknamed “the whale” for its unconventional shape, the Tacit Blue was an experimental aircraft developed to test stealth technologies. Its curved surfaces and V-tail design were groundbreaking at the time and laid the groundwork for future stealth bombers like the B-2 Spirit. The Tacit Blue completed 135 flights before being retired in 1985 and is now on display at the National Museum of the United States Air Force.
In May 2025, an F-35 stealth fighter demonstrated its advanced capabilities by transmitting classified data from Texas to Denmark’s Skrydstrup Air Base, located 5,000 miles away. This feat was achieved using Lockheed Martin’s DAGGR-2 system and commercial satellite communications, highlighting the F-35’s role in real-time data collection and dissemination across geographically dispersed networks.
