Karaj Dam

The project introduced modern construction practices to Iran at the time, including the use of heavy machinery, concrete mixing plants, and precision scaffolding. The dam’s hydroelectric station uses the potential energy from the height of the water to produce electricity, supporting the Tehran energy grid, especially during peak demand periods.

The reliable water supply from the dam has been a major factor in the growth of Karaj City, now a large urban center that blends industrial zones with residential communities.
