Karaj Dam

With growing water scarcity, more efficient management practices, including leak detection, smart irrigation, and improved distribution networks, are being integrated. Although the dam already generates hydroelectric power, there is potential to incorporate floating solar panels on the reservoir surface to boost renewable energy output while reducing evaporation losses.

It supports the water needs of Tehran, one of the largest cities in the Middle East, enabling sustained urban expansion and industrial activities. The dam provides irrigation water to vast farmlands, helping ensure food security for nearby rural communities.
