Iraqi women’s national team training
The path has not been easy. Limited resources, societal expectations, and lack of exposure have all been challenges these players have had to face. But this generation is fearless. They know that every step they take on the training ground is a step forward for girls watching them from every corner of the country.
“Being here is not just about football,” says the team captain. “It’s about showing young girls in Iraq that they belong on the field, and that their dreams are valid.” There is still work to be done — increasing league opportunities, improving facilities, and securing more international fixtures — but the foundation is strong, and the momentum is growing.
