Eva Peron from cinema to politics

Despite her popularity among the working class, Eva Perón was a deeply polarizing figure, both during her life and after her death. Authoritarianism: Critics accused her and the Perón regime of undermining democracy, censoring the press, and persecuting political opponents.

Detractors viewed her as manipulative and power-hungry, leveraging her foundation and influence for political gain. Populism vs. Patronage: While many saw her foundation as a source of genuine aid, others claimed it was a tool of personalized patronage, used to secure loyalty to the Peronist movement. Donations to the foundation were sometimes coerced, and accounting was opaque.
