The HESA Saeqeh, meaning “Thunderbolt,” is a domestically produced Iranian jet fighter developed by the Aircraft Manufacturing Industrial Company (HESA). Introduced in 2006, the Saeqeh is based on the Northrop F-5 design, featuring twin vertical stabilizers and upgraded avionics.
It represents a significant step in efforts to develop indigenous aerospace capabilities. Primarily used for air-to-air and limited ground-attack missions, the Saeqeh demonstrates modest combat capabilities tailored to regional defense needs. As of now, the operational fleet consists of approximately 12 aircraft.
