A Prince’s Farewell
In accordance with Islamic tradition, his body was washed and shrouded in white cloth, followed by Salat al-Janazah (the funeral prayer), attended by court officials, clerics, and citizens. Special sessions of Qur’an recitation were held in mosques and royal courts for several days, invoking mercy and forgiveness for his soul.
Mourners wore traditional dark-colored garments as a sign of respect, and public events were subdued during the official mourning period. Poets composed elegies in his honor, praising his lineage and lamenting his tragic fall from power. Traditional food offerings were distributed to the poor, a common act of charity in remembrance of the deceased.
