Beyond the screen, Mahnaz Afshar has been an outspoken critic of gender inequality, child marriage, and the compulsory hijab law. Her social media presence has often sparked debate, both among fans and authorities. As a result, she faced censorship and pressure from conservative establishment.

In 2019, she moved abroad with her daughter, continuing her artistic career in exile. Despite challenges, she remains a strong voice for freedom of expression and women’s rights.
